The firm started in 1997. Thomas F. Adams, Jr. left Malpin, Taylor, Ellis & Adams, PA to start Adams, Portnoy & Berggren, PA. When Mr. Adams retired in 2001, Adams, Portnoy & Berggren, PLLC was formed with Mr. Adams continuing as “of counsel.” Mr. Adams sadly passed away in 2010.
In January 2015, William and Mr. Portnoy ceased practicing together and William started the Berggren Law Offices, PLLC. William continues to devote 100% of his practice to helping those struggling with debt.

William G. Berggren’s experience includes work on some of the most complex corporate bankruptcies for some of the largest bankruptcy filings in the country to the simplest individual filings. William began practicing in Los Angeles, California for one of the top corporate bankruptcy firms in the country. In 1991, William relocated to North Carolina and worked for one of the top corporate bankruptcy firms in the State of North Carolina at the time. In 1998 William joined Adams, Portnoy & Berggren, and concentrated his practice to assisting individuals and business in chapter 7 and 13. In 2015, William started Berggren Law Offices, PLLC.
